Nigeria Gets N267m Grant From China Over Ebola by sexzskil(f): 2:30am On Oct 01, 2014
NIGERIA got a further boost in its efforts
against the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) as the
Chinese Government commended it for
fighting the scourge to a stand still and also
made a grant of N267 million to assist in
filling identified gaps.
Minister of National Planning, Abubakar
Suleiman, at the grant signing and exchange
of notes yesterday in Abuja, said “the grant
assistance of 10 million Yuan (about N267
million) worth of medical protection and
treatment” is significant, as the loopholes
are critical to the fight against the plague.
Suleiman said the country’s drive to
contain the disease has been all
encompassing, with everything in place to
check the “spread of the disease, especially
in West African countries of Liberia and
Guinea.”
Acknowledging the readiness of the
Chinese Government as a reliable ally in
Nigeria’s development quest, Suleiman said
China “has also been supportive with
unrequited transfer of grants and technical
assistance covering several sectors,
including water and sanitation, health,
education, defence and security, energy
and power, small and medium scale
enterprises development, agriculture and of
course technical assistance.”
