Microsoft has announced that the name of its latest Operating System is… Windows 10! Yes, not Windows X or Windows 9 as previously suggested by many tech watchers, they have taken the leap from Windows 8 to Windows 10, or so it seems.

In an event held in San Francisco, the new OS has been touted as being “the most comprehensive platform ever” as it will run seamlessly on PCs, tablets, mobile phones, and X-box consoles.
After the barrage of complaints and limited success that plagued the introduction of Windows 8, Microsoft has brought back the Start button and has several reversions that platform very similar to Windows 7 but the customizable tile display has been retained so that users of both Windows 7 and 8 can still have a familiar feel of the new Windows 10.

The Start menu brings up a so-called “Metro Start Screen” that displays icons and tiles of system apps and the new universal apps. Another interesting feature is the “Task View” which improves the multitasking ability of Windows 10 by showing up to four screen shots of different apps.

The software Giants have promised a better user experience on both touch and moused devices. More insights will be given into the new operating system in April 2015 while the completed package will be released in the later part of that year.
