happy independence day nl

Today have gotten several messages some saying independent day or independence day. So I thought of it if am to write an essay for an exam tomorrow say waec, which would I rather use independent or independence.

Independent;
It means to be free from d control or authority of an higher body.
Eg Nigeria is independent of Ghana for supply of gold meaning with or without Ghana , Nigeria would still have gold .

Also independent is an adjective meaning it modifies or add meaning to any noun dat its attached to eg from d above independent adds meaning to d noun Nigeria

Independence: it is a state of being free from d control or others. It expresses a quality of a noun
Eg miss independence meaning d lady is free from d control of her friends, parents etc
It also expresses d quality of d lady.

So with my brief explanation which would u rather go for independent day or independence day
