Many students have some very wrong notions about higher institutions. These misconceptions ruin a great number of us in our academic pursuit. A good number of us enter into higher institutions with the belief that it is time to exercise freedom and ‘change levels’. We have the notion of the higher institution of learning as a place where students get the highest enjoyment in life, a place where one knots ties, looks ‘fresh’ and carries files about. We see it as a place where you go gallivanting around and you know ‘just having fun’. Worse still, some do not believe that it possible to encounter failure in higher institutions.

As silly as some of these notions may sound to some of us, there are still those of us who are not well-informed about what the university environment is all about.
