Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers says he will
"wait and see" on the fitness of forward Daniel
Sturridge.
Joe Allen, Emre Can, Jon Flanagan, Glen
Johnson and Mamadou Sakho all remain
sidelined for the Reds.
Cristian Gamboa will start at right-back for
West Brom, with Andre Wisdom ineligible
against his parent club.
Winger Silvestre Varela could be facing hernia
surgery and is definitely ruled out this
weekend but defender Chris Baird is fit again
after illness.
Brendan Rodgers has talked about the red
shirt weighing heavy on some of the new
faces. Steven Gerrard has questioned some of
his team-mates' desire. Whatever it is,
something is definitely not right at Anfield.
In attack, Liverpool lack a speed of thought
and movement and their finishing has been
poor. In midfield, their passing has become
wayward and their defending has been a torrid
catalogue of misadventures.
Liverpool seem simply incapable of keeping a
clean sheet at the moment, having developed
a habit of conceding late goals, goals from set
pieces and goals from individual flashes of
surprising incompetence.
Everything good that came so naturally to
them last season now looks laboured, forced
and clunky and as a result another title
challenge looks fanciful. Liverpool are already
just one defeat away from losing as many
points at home this season than they did in
the whole of the last one.
Can West Brom inflict that defeat? Well,
they've beaten Liverpool on two of their last
three visits to Anfield and their 4-0 win
against Burnley on Sunday ensured they won
three consecutive matches for the first time in
almost two years. If they're not confident now
they never will be.
Saido Berahino has notched three goals in
that run, taking his tally this season to five -
only Chelsea's Diego Costa has more goals in
all competitions this season.
Berahino could easily have felt aggrieved that
Daniel Sturridge's absence did not open a
door for him to make Roy Hodgson's England
squad, but he has insisted otherwise.
No doubt he'll be looking forward to playing
against a Liverpool defence almost hamstrung
with self-doubt.

West Brom have earned consecutive
league victories for the first time since
September last year.
The Baggies have kept back-to-back
Premier League clean sheets for the first
time since April 2012, when they kept
three in a row.
Their 4-0 victory over Burnley was their
biggest since 2012.
