It was always going to be a big ask going to Stamford Bridge and after the humiliation of last season, Arsenal vastly improved on last years performance and deserved at least a point from this afternoon’s match.

Arsenal started with Flamini, Jack and Cazorla in midfield, with Welbeck supported by Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Özil. The more conservative formation worked well, and restricted a robotic Chelsea side to only a few half chances.

It was a close contest, with Arsenal looking much stronger defensively than they have been in recent big games. Then a piece of magic from Eden Hazard broke the deadlock.

Chelsea’s number ten waltzed past Flamini and Cazorla, and with Koscielny the last man making the decisive challenge and give the hosts a penalty. Koscielny received a yellow card when he could have perhaps picked up a red. Losing a man and a goal from the penalty would have meant the game was effectively over as a contest so we were fortunate we could still play the rest of the game with eleven men.

But after that though, Arsenal’s “luck” ran out.

Oscar made foul after foul and didn’t pick up a booking until four minutes until the end, and Gary Cahill almost took Alexis Sachez’s leg off with a reckless challenge and should have been a red card.

Then the biggest decision in the game proved decisive in the end.

A shot from Jack Wilshere was blocked by Cesc Fabregas in the box, but clearly by his hand. It wasn’t even a close call – Fabregas had his arms high in the air and the ball hit them. I don’t care if it’s intentional, it’s a penalty.

And that would have made it 1-1.

Once Chelsea scored from the penalty, they parked the bus.

Only one team wanted to actually play football and it wasn’t Chelsea. Arsenal were making all of the play, trying to score a goal and were faced with ten blue shirts in their way. Arsenal had some good passages of play, mainly through Jack Wilshere, but it was too much of an ask. Watching the way Chelsea set up shop, I wondered if any team could get through such defensive tactics.

Although hardly surprising given this is a Jose Mourinho side, you wonder if Chelsea fans like watching this kind of football?

Given a transfer budget which eclipses ours by a massive margin, it’s still amazing he still plays so negatively. Have ten men behind the ball and play off the break? You’d have thought a team like Chelsea would have more aspirations than that, but no, they like boring football that gets results.

Arsenal fans can be proud of their team today, as they gave everything. Wilshere, Flamini, Cazorla and Sanchez never gave up, and the back four were solid. The issue Arsenal had was Mesut Özil, who had a very bad day in the office.

At 1-0, with Arsenal needing a goal in the second half, the game was begging for Oxlade-Chamerlain to be introduced with at least half an hour left, and it should have been for the lethargic Özil.

But what does Arsene Wenger do?

He introduces Oxlade-Chamberlain with only 25 minutes left, and takes off Santi Cazorla!

Alongside Jack Wilshere, Santi was our most creative player – and added to that, he actually tracks back and defends, unlike Özil.

I understand Özil is our record signing but Arsene needs to recognise when Özil needs to be taken off. It is ridiculous to think a player can always have a great game and Özil was a million miles away from that. Taking off Cazorla is something which is mind-boggling, and even the player himself was mystified as to why he was hauled off.

Obviously Arsene was hoping that Özil would come up with that piece of magic, or the final pass that would make the difference but ultimately, he was slow, lazy and didn’t contribute a single thing to our performance. You don’t care if a player is in a bad patch and isn’t in form, as long as they give 110%. I’ve always supported players like Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere when a lot of Arsenal fans were slagging them off because they may not have had a good game but they bust their balls off in an Arsenal shirt.

That’s all we want to see when players put on the red and white of Arsenal so to see a player waltz through the game without a care in the world is painful to watch.

On Özil, my thoughts during the game sum him up:

The game in end showed Chelsea for who they are – a functional team that will sacrifice football and the beautiful game for results. A side which is boring to watch, and a team full of massive cunts. Any respect I had for Cesc Fabregas has well and truly disintegrated after his actions on the pitch.

It didn’t take him long to become a “true” Chelsea player.

Is this op aware that Arsenal had no shot on target throughout this game?
Is he aware that the ball possession was greatly in chelsea's favour.
Please which game did this person watch?

Absolute nonsense.
Even arsenal fans are not that deluded.
Chelsea were a class above arsenal.
Arsenal had zero shots on target.!!
Chelsea had the bulk of the possession in the first half and only began to 'park the bus' during the last 20mins of the game when mikel came in to kill the game.
Unlike wenger, mou is not afflicted with hubris.

Chelsea - Arsenal
shots on target : 3 - 0
shots off target : 2 - 6
possession (%) : 47 - 53
corner kicks : 2 - 2
offsides : 3 - 0
fouls : 14 - 10
yellow cards : 4 - 3
red cards : 0 - 0

Apart from the no shots on target, stats show Arsenal was the better side.

cry cry baby, u want to see ur mummy, shame shame shame shameeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. my children dey sing am whenever one small baby is crying around so i think it will be good to sing same to u since u had time to write all these beautiful nonsesnse.
arsenal and their fans always look away from the truth. one on one, match ur 11 players with that of chelsea and tell me how u want to win. if arsenal had mistakingly won the game(God forbid), it will be tagged an upset because players plenty remain for chelsea.
a good tactician is that one that knows when to attack and when to defend and that is what Mourinho is.
football is like any other sports including boxing. Tyson no get tactics but his power na the weight of his blows. will u tell tyson to start defending? will u tell another boxer fighting with tyson to open his face and go to the grave? Mourinho knows ur style of play and knows how best to reduce u to the academy boys u are. if u have ball possession of 53 and another have 47, do u call that parking of bus?when drogba used to crush arsenal, na 27% ball possession chelsea dey get yet they will win with drogba.
please see this rating from the game of yesterday and tell me what u think;

Chelsea

Thibaut Courtois - 5

Took a heavy knock to the head in an early collision with Alexis Sanchez. Was replaced by Petr Cech after 22 minutes. Went to hospital as a precaution.

Branislav Ivanovic - 7

Was under pressure during the first-half with Alexis Sanchez looking dangerous down the left-flank, but kept a clean sheet. Typically industrious and always a willing runner at the other end of the field.

Gary Cahill - 6

It was his foul that resulted in the pushing match between Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger. Was given a yellow card but could have seen red.

John Terry - 7.5

A very quiet afternoon for the Chelsea captain. Arsenal failed to get behind the Chelsea backline thanks to their supreme defensive organisation, and Terry can take credit for that.

Cesar Azpilicueta - 7

Back in the Chelsea team having been left out against Filipe Luis and dealt will with the Arsenal attacking threat. Always a consistently solid performer.

Nemanja Matic - 7.5

Potentially as important as Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas, and it is in these games against Chelsea's nearest rivals that his worth will be shown. Solid and composed against an Arsenal midfield packed with bright sparks.

Cesc Fabregas - 7.5

Played a part in both goals. His nice interchange allowed Eden Hazard freedom to make his penalty winning run into the Arsenal ball, before providing the assist the enabled Diego Costa to secure the points.

Eden Hazard - 8

Produced an excellent run to earn the Chelsea penalty and converted expertly. Enjoyed himself up against Calum Chambers for much of the afternoon. Always a threat.

Andre Schurrle - 6.5

In and out of the game on the right side of the Chelsea midfield and struggled to offer anything of note when he did have the ball at his feet. Replaced by John Obi Mikel in the second-half.

Oscar - 8 (man-of-the-match)

Was required more in his own half than the opposition's and made some important blocks and interceptions when Arsenal had the ball around the Chelsea penalty box. Was moved out onto the right flank after Mikel came on.

Diego Costa - 7.5

A quiet game for him the high standards he has set during his short time as a Chelsea player but sprung into life when it really mattered. Had been kept at bay by Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny but finished off the chance when it came his way to ensure victory.

Subs: Petr Cech, John Obi Mikel, Willian.

Arsenal

Wojciech Szczesny - 6

Was rarely called into action in what was a game of few clear chances. Produced one save of real importance, although knew very little about it as Mathieu Flamini's deflection hit his right hand and crashed into the post. Beaten a little easily by Diego Costa.

Calum Chambers - 6

Will miss Arsenal's next match after picking up his fifth booking of the season for a foul on Eden Hazard in the first-half. Had to keep his composure to deal with the Belgian for the rest of the afternoon, although was fortunate not to receive a second yellow card a for obstructing Andre Schurrle. Will have few more difficult opponents.

Per Mertesacker - 7

Had the imposing task of keeping a lid on Diego Costa alongside Laurent Koscielny and, until the closing stages, had done a decent job of preventing the Spain international from posing a threat. Will be disappointed with the simplicity of the Costa goal after so much hard work.

Laurent Koscielny - 7

Conceded the Chelsea penalty for a foul on Eden Hazard and was booked. Will be disappointed to have been beaten by a ball over the top from Cesc Fabregas having kept Diego Costa quiet for much of the game.

Kieran Gibbs - 7

Did his job for the afternoon defensively and can't be faulted for either of the Chelsea goals. Still lacks the quality Arsenal require in the attacking third.

Mathieu Flamini - 7

Arsenal look more secure with the Frenchman in the midfield instead of the injured Mikel Arteta but, as shown with an elbow on Diego Costa, prone to be reckless. Should have been sent off.

Jack Wilshere - 7

Had an excellent opportunity to get Arsenal back on terms but his touch let him down. It was always going to be a difficult afternoon up against this Chelsea midfield, but would have been frustrated that he was unable to carve out any chances for his team.

Santi Cazorla - 7.5

Playing in a central position once again following an impressive performance against Galatasaray. Often looked like Arsenal's most likely goalscorer given his ability to find openings on either foot, but was frustrated by a resolute Chelsea rearguard. Replaced by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the second-half.

Mesut Ozil - 6.5

Frequently dispossessed with too many touches often leading him into trouble. Was given the chance to play in the centre after Santi Cazorla was taken off, but was unable to offer anything of note for his team.

Alexis Sanchez - 7

Always looked dangerous in the first-half when Arsenal were in the ascendancy although lost his momentum a little after the foul from Gary Cahill. Was taken off for Lukas Podolski with the game already lost.

Danny Welbeck - 6.5

Practically a passenger in the second-half as Arsenal struggled to serve him with the ball. A sobering afternoon after his hat-trick against Galatasaray. Needs to show he can perform against the better teams.

Subs: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Lukas Podolski, Tomas Rosicky.

if u ask me what i think, sack wenger, get a young blood. act van gaal and chase away all the children players and get chelsea standard players and all this biography u are writing here will be a thing of the past.

look at that arsenal team that did the invincible, check out men of quality football skills and ambition. since u joined the young gunners meeting, ur story has been a sorry one.

look at this;

chelsea vs arsenal

Courtois vs Szczesny

ivanovic vs chambers

cahill vs koscieny

terry vs per

cesar vs gibbs

matic vs flamini

fabregas vs Wilshere

oscar vs sanchez

hazard vs ozil

shurle vs carzola

and finally

COSTA VS welbeck

Mourinho vs wenger

Abrahimovic vs Korenke

from the owners to coaches down to players, chelsea big pass all of una. madrid will always give ball to modric who sends bale or ronaldo running for a solo. tomorrow, go tell them to stop counter attack so that they will follow to play, pass to me and i pass to u.

arsenal fans are good at booing their former players and burning their jerseys or even call them judas.
