What Is The Difference Between BRIBE And LOBBY ? by CaniiiceDim(m): 7:17pm On Oct 05, 2014
I was in a hot argument today about this issue.
Methinks, they are just the same.
Some say bribery must involve money, but lobby comes in kind.,,,
But hey,
I have seen someone that was bribed with a plot of land.
That ain't money!

Some say bribery can be negotiated while lobby can't,,,
We all know it's not true.

Some say bribery is given before the favour is received while lobby comes as appreciation for favour done.
But hey,
You don't lip service law makers that you would give them dis n dat, if you really want your motion pushed in the house of assembly.
Money for hand first, Noni...

SO I ASK;
WHAT REALLY IS THE DIFFERENCE ??

bribe is intended to lure the taker into subverting due process to grant the giver an undue privilege within an establishment, over persons, conventions etc etc. it makes the recipient to flout laws/rules(in his discharge of duty or binding responsibility)to favour the giver of it. while lobbying is intended to sway, convince or influence any occupier of significant authority that's not under any moral obligation to duty(in a given contestable subject), to support the lobbyist with his vote

Bribe always comes before an action so that it purpose of diverting or getting an undue/undeserved favour may be carried out if the receiver of the bribe accepts.
LOBBY is in a way an act of coniving with someone to act against another in order to be favoured..It can also be called 'manipulation' or 'manoeuvre'

^manipulation is involved in both of them, but one is allowed the other is not.

By these explanations, it means that they indeed refer to the same action, but the intentions by which it was given SERVE as their difference. Hmm,,, that's interesting.

formal meaning........ check the dictionary.
.
in practice, bribe is a direct form..of giving, receiving ,accepting, personal etc

and lobby is indirect ,through favors, through your church, orphanage, through formal bodies. thus it can't be traced, slush funds etc. more precisely you will see erosion but no rain.
