School can be so unbearable sometimes can’t it?

On some days, it’s the work, and on others, it’s the teachers. But then you’ve got the days when school is killing you because of the people. Everything the people in your classes do annoy you to death. We all have those days, so here I’m identifying the annoying people in your classes, and how you should try to deal.

1. The Teacher’s Pet/Overly Competitive Classmate. She’s got all the answers, and she is not afraid to scream them out every single time the teacher asks a question. On a day you’re feeling dumb or just annoyed with the world, this person can drive you out of your mind.

How to deal: The best policy is just to ignore her, but, if you want to confront her, we’ve got the guide on how to deal right there.

2. The Class Clown. He’s the funniest person in the room…or at least he thinks so. His antics, though occasionally funny, can drive you up the wall when you are in a bad mood. Insulting the teacher, the class as a whole, or your friends has gotten old, as has hislove of being the center of attention in the classroom.

How to deal: Ignore him. Or, if you are severely annoyed at him, feel free to specifically ask him to be quiet. Confronting the teacher about the class clown for administrative action is another option, if you are that bothered.

3. The Detached Kid. His hands are probably typing furiously on his phone, his ears blocked by white headphones, he is sitting in the back corner of the classroom, and not listening to the teacher. When the teacher calls upon him for a question, he ignores her or makes an obnoxious remark.

How to deal: Face away from him and concentrate on your teacher in the front and not his annoying presence in the back. You could always pull out his headphones or grab at his phone.

4. The Clueless Girl. You really have no idea why she’s in your AP class, because she honestly has no clue what is ever going on in the class. Right after the teacher explains something, she raises her hand, confused about what he had said, inquiring endlessly. She keeps asking and asking about a simple concept you actually covered two classes ago.

How to deal: While that whole exchange is going on between your teacher and the clueless classmate,  go ahead and do some other homework, or just get ahead in that class.

5. The Shy One. This girl is in the corner of the class and you have rarely heard her say a word. When she does talk, you can barely hear her, as her voice is lower than a whisperer. She avoids everyone in class, even in groups or class discussions.

How to deal: If you are in a group with The Shy One, it’s really hard to get her to say a thing. However, if you need to work with her in a project, you’ll have to force it. Try your best to extract information from her without shutting her out.

6. The Dreamboat. He’s pretty. And you can’t stop staring at him, can you? Instead of concentrating on the class, you’re just looking at him.

How to deal: Just look straight at the teacher and at your paper, unless you have to work with him. Try not to fall prey to how pretty he is.

7. The Chatterbox. This girl is constantly chatting, whether or not the teacher is talking. She distracts everyone from what they’re doing at the moment, just to drag them into her story about what happened to her this weekend.

How to deal: Ignore her to the best of your ability. If you have to work with her, feel free to put her in line and keep her on task.

There are many kids in your classes, of all different varieties; some fit into these types, while others don’t. They all have their moments of greatness and unbearable annoyance. You might find your best friend among them. Handle them with care, and good luck!
