The use of mobile phones in our era has become a way of life for many as most people are unable to function properly without their phones. Often a times you will hear people say things like “I feel incomplete without my phone.” While the use of mobile phones is good and allows for convenience of communication, the following reasons will make you realize that mobile phones are killing us

Brain Cancer: Many people are ignorant of the fact that mobile phones increase the risk of brain cancer as mobile phones radiations gradually damages the brain. The radiation emitted by the phones is absorbed by the brain which causes the brain tissues to heat up. The risk becomes even higher for those that sleep with their phones close to them while sleeping.

Heart Risk: Did you know that the radiation of cell phones interferes with the normal functioning of the heart? Cell phones cause health complications and put its user at the risk of developing heart diseases. The habit of keeping your mobile phone in the front pocket of your shirt should also be avoided as the radiation affects the red blood cells.

It Affects Sperm Fertility: Unlike ladies who most times have a bag to keep their phones, men usually keep their phones inside their trouser pockets. The ringing of the mobile phone however causes damaged sperm or decreased sperm concentration. When in use, mobile phones usually heat up and this increases the temperature in the groin region and sperms are known to survive in temperatures less than 4 degrees the body temperature.

Bad Eyes: If you are the type that is always texting on your phone for long periods, then it is imperative that you increase the font size to twice the smallest size readable. Staring at your phone and the stress of holding it for long can lead to eye strain, headaches, dry eye and blurred vision. When you operate your phone for long periods as well, it is advisable to take at least 10 seconds intervals.

Loss of Hearing: Doctors have attributed the prolonged use of mobile phones as a major reason for hearing loss for most people between the ages of 18-25. Radiations emitted by mobile phones affect the inner ear which causes hearing loss or partial deafness for people. It is best to reduce the number of time spent on the telephone, the ringer volume as well as the music level.

Loss of Concentration: It is very certain that either you or someone you know is guilty of being addicted to a mobile phone. Mobile phones become an addiction for many; it is now a common sight to see many people talking on the phone or texting away while on a busy road, while driving or while having conversations with others face-to-face. In China for instance, phone addicts get to have their own sidewalks. Many become less productive just because of their mobile phone addiction, so you better think twice, do you own the phone or the phone owns you?
