FULL DETAILS: D'banj Becomes Apple/beats By Dre African Ambassador by 9jaMusicPlanet(m): 11:31am On Oct 10, 2014
@iamdbanj NigeriaMusicPlanet has just learnt that Apple/Beats have made Nigeria’s Super Star D’banj it’s Brand Ambassador. The co-founder of BEATS, rapper Dr. Dre just made the announcement! D'banj has signed a contract with Apple to be the African ambassador for the brand...and not just that, he'll get his own customized earphones, which will be launched in December. Congrats to D'banj.

It would be recalled that Apple recently acquired Beats Electronics for $3 billion ($2.6 billion in cash and $400 million in stock that will vest over time). Co-founders Jimmy Iovine and Dr Dre joined Apple as part of the deal. Iovine had these rather touching words to say: “I’ve always known in my heart that Beats belonged with Apple. The idea when we started the company was inspired by Apple’s unmatched ability to marry culture and technology. Apple’s deep commitment to music fans, artists, songwriters and the music industry is something special.” Tim Cook’s statement echoed our story below — that Apple acquired Beats to stay at the top of the music game, despite increased competition.
