Op , you are strictly on your own with your calculations. As far as I am concerned this era of Eagles has gone into the archives. We need fresh legs.

same place as usual...

I think we are playing congo next and if we are to pick anything from that game, the coach has got some serious work to do:
(1) Defence: so porous, lack of communication between center backs, poor timing, can't clear set pieces, wing backs are poor tracking back an attacker; they seem to escort the opposite attacker, wing backs can't link up with the attack or bring pull outs. The defence is to individualistic.

(2) Midfield: lack cohesion, creativity and pace. Fail to link up with the attack often, always fail to impose their presence in a game, and poor final ball to the attackers.

(3) Attack: weak, no prolific striker in the team(our top striker can't guarantee 15goals a season for his club), wingers can't really dribble past defenders, selfish strikers(too individualistic),

Other areas to work on include: passing(the team can't make five complete passes acurately), set piece: we don't have a single set-piece taker and can't score via set-pieces, stop playong long balls: we don't have big, strong and clever attackers so playing long ball amount to giving away possession cheaply, the team need to be more compact- attack as a pack and defend as a pack. That way u dobt allow your opponent too much space to exploit.
Finally, the players need to be attentive to what is happening on the pitch of play at every seconds. The eagles seem to forget themselves too often.

Lastbullet: keshi should stop chewing gum and start cracking his head on how to start playing well and winning convincingly. He's not sir Alex Fergie
and Amokachi should stop sitting joblessly and start contributing to betterment of the team.

mtchew.
I even thought you ll give indepth info. We can still qualify as best losers. CAF ll choose 3 best losers along side the 12 teams that came 1st & 2nd in their groups. If you add 1 team (host nation) to this, you ll v 16 teams.
So, the surest way of Nigeria's qualification is through best loser.
Last Bullet

A Note To Steven Keshi

Nigeria 3-1 Sudan
________________
A win is fine.
It gave a relief & a hope of qualifying for the next AFCON at least as a best loser.
But...
The same old story has not ended.

* Playing players out of position (e.g Onazi played as a right back against Sudan)
* Not parading the raw talents but fielding less skillful muscular rugby footballers (e.g Gbolahan Salami)
* Lack of dead ball specialists & other tactical deficiency that a team like Nigeria should not have.

Very insightful and intelligent post. Anyone who believes Keshi is technically sound does not know anything about football coaching.

We have to win our remaining 2 matches with a wide margin.
That can only happen if keshi is sacked n a new coach comes in to bring our best legs; Ike uche, martins, iheanacho

Winning is even a problem not to talk of goals.

Hoping we win all our games and S.A DROP point with SUDAN outside that we are out despite our wins. If Congo finish d sm points we go to head to head rule and now if we beat them with less than 2:0 we are out. It wont be easy o.

That simply means it will go right down to the wire.

SA - 8pts
Congo - 7pts
Nigeria - 4pts

Next matches

Nigeria Vs SA - 3pts for Nigeria (hopefully)

Sudan vs Congo - unpredictable, but Let's say 3 pts for Congo.

After these 2 matches,

SA on 8 pts

Congo on 10 pts

Nigeria on 7 pts

Last round of matches

SA vs Sudan - 3pts for SA (sa qualified already with 11 pts)

The do or die match will have to be Congo vs Nigeria. Winner takes all. But I think the Eagles have to win by a 2 goal margin to qualify on head to head ahead of Congo

Hmmmm. That's Jamb question oh.
Both teams SA and Congo are now on 8 and 7 points respectively. Both teams are still playing Sudan which is likely to be victories for them both. SA needs just a win out of two games to pull thru. SA is playing Sudan at home. Congo needs to just beat Sudan and secure a draw or a loss of just 0-1 or 1-2 against Nigeria to pull through on head to head. Lobatan.
