But he was never taken too seriously because he himself didn't take football too seriously until his twilight years when he joined bolton. Imagine the disgrace of Oliver Khan and 4 defenders when he could have easily scored, he chose to dribble back and forth. Yes he eventually scored but that shows unseriouslness.

With all his skill, it lacked end product and this was rectified in his latter years of his career. In germany they were times he dribbled unneccesary and loose the ball.
