China Has Nearly 60,000 Centenarians -report by charleff512(m): 2:42pm On Oct 21, 2014
The Gerontological Society of China on Tuesday revealed that 58,789 centenarians (a century equals 100 years) are living in China and the oldest was 128 years.
“Three quarters of the long-lived are women and most of them are living in the countryside,” the society said.
The report says provinces with the most centenarians are south China’s Hainan and Guangxi and central China’s Anhui, where the environment is good and the economy is moderately developed.
The society found that most of the centenarians enjoyed outdoor activities, were willing to communicate with others and maintained a healthy diet.
Chinese people who are aged 60 will be over 202 million by the end of 2014, or nearly 15 per cent of the total population, the report adds.

My conclusion is that bad economy is a contributing factor to Nigeria's low life expectancy.
In the new World Health Statistics 2014 report published by the World Health Organisation (WHO), the world was said to have witnessed major gains in life expectancy in recent decades. The report revealed that Nigerians’ life expectancy that stood at 46 years in 1990 rose to 54 years in 2012.
A major highlight of the report is that women live longer than men in Nigeria. Their life expectancy rose from 47 years in 1990 to 55 years in 2012, while Nigerian men that could be expected to live up to 45 years in 1990, had life expectancy of 53 years in 2012. The report further observed that low-income countries made the most significant progress, with an increase of nine years in life expectancy between 1990 and 2012, from 51.2 to 60.2 years for men, and 54.0 to 63.1 years for women.
