James was a father, husband, and farmer in southern part of Nigeria. He'd done just about everything right, worked hard all his life, and managed to raise a family as best as possible. One day, James was confronted by a situation he didn't plan for, or even think about. His oldest daughter, Joke, told him that she wanted to go to university. James walked through the rest of the day in shock. Not that he was surprised that his daughter wanted to go to university-she was a bright girl, full of energy and enthusiasm, and he knew she will be as much of a success in university as she was at everything else. No, his shock was the realization that he had no finance to pay for her university education. No one had ever told him how expensive university is, and no one had ever offered to help him understand just what is involved. Everything seemed to come to an end as he had to face the reality that he'd failed as a father by not being able to financially support Joke to achieve her academic dreams. How could he tell her that she can't go to university because he (her father) cannot afford the cost?
