A new chapter has been opened in the latest Nigeria football crisis as members of the Chris Giwa-led Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, board were at its secretariat on Friday in Abuja to clear the ground for resumption of duties on Monday. The Giwa-led executives secured a court order on Thursday sacking the other faction led by Amaju Pinnick. Amongst other things, the Giwa-led board stated that all committees and earlier decisions made by the Amaju-led board has been overturned including the decision not to allow Stephen Keshi to continue as the national team coach. “The NFF board reviewed and feels so strongly to sustain the out-of-contract assignment given to the technical crew of the Super Eagles led by Stephen Keshi at a very critical moment like this. Nigerians want the national team to play well, win and a pride to them” a part of the communiqué reached at the executive committee read. Keshi’s contract as Nigeria national team boss ended after the World Cup in Brazil and attempts to get a new contract fell through. He was shown the exit door on October 16 despite leading the Eagles to a 3-1 win over Sudan in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier played in Abuja. Yahaya Adama, a member of the Giwa-led board stated on Friday at the NFF’s secretariat, that they remained the only legally elected executives and any other board parading itself in that light was merely wasting its time. “The board wishes to thank Nigerians who have since the court ruling been calling and identifying with us,” he said. “Like we had stated earlier, our decision not to have gone ahead to occupy the Glass House (the secretariat) since the September 19 ruling that empowered us was to allow peace. The latest decision of the court herewith has returned us to office fully from where we draw our greater resolve to save the game.” SOURCE: https://www.premiumtimesng.com/sports/football/170052-nff-crisis-giwa-led-board-nullifies-keshis-sack-takes-over-nff-office.html |

Instead of saying they want to save their pockets, they say they want to "save the game". Which game are they saving? Do these people think we are fools? As for the judge who made this ruling, I think he must be a clown. Anyway, his ruling is an exercise in futility, a meaningless frolic. Giwa and his gang of jobbers should know that FIFA will never recognise their so-called board. Football's world governing body has already given the Pinnick-led board its full backing and has recognised the elections that produced it. As everyone knows, FIFA's statutes forbid all forms of civil litigation in football matters. The most likely outcome of this crisis is that FIFA will ban Nigeria from all international football engagements, meaning that even if we qualify we will not play in the next AFCON tournament or indeed any other competition organised by CAF or FIFA. That's the benefit of having shameless greedy men like Giwa and co. 1 Like |

Is there no one who can call these clowns to order? Must our football be destroyed by Giwa and his group before something is done? Whose interest are they pursuing? I thought that majority of football lovers want Stephen Keshi to go if we are to move forward in our football. Why are they reversing this decision supported by Nigerians. Where are the Football Supporters club when our football is being raped and ravished by greedy, selfish, unpatriotic individuals. Enough is enough and those who should do something ought to do so now before the final Fifa ban. A word is enough for the wise. 1 Like |
