Gionee has unveiled the Marathon M3
smartphone, which is currently available for
purchase in Inda. One of the key features of
the Gionee Marathon M3 is its battery, a
5,000mAh monster, which the company
estimates can last up to 32 hours of 3G talk
time and 33 days of stand-by.

The Marathon M3 runs on Android 4.4 KitKat
and is built around a 5" IPS LCD of 720p
resolution.
Naturally, a battery this big comes at a cost.
The phone measures 144.5 x 71.4 x 10.4mm
and weighs 180 grams.
The phone features a MediaTek MT6582 SoC
with a 1.3 GHz quad-core CPU and 1GB of
RAM. Internal storage is 8GB and is expandable
up to 128GB via the microSD card slot. At the
back, there's an 8MP snapper, which offers
720p video recording, while a 2MP camera
takes care of selfies at the front.
In terms of connectivity, the Gionee Marathon
M3 accepts two SIM cards and features FM
Radio, GPS and Wi-Fi 802.11n. The device is
now available in India for $210 (INR 12,999) in
black and white versions.

$210 is about 35k but Gionee phones are usually cheaper than the Indian price when released in Nigeria.

Honestly THL5000 is a beast! But the price I saw was more than 250, was about 285 plus shipping.

The S5.5 is a good phone all round but has a disappointing battery life. That said almost everything else about the phone is great.

The camera is good, producing sharp pictures in both day and night time. The default camera app comes with some interesting bells and whistles but my favourite is the tap to snap.

Sound is loud and clear above average for a mono speaker phone and if you use good solid earphones sound reproduction is amazing.

The design of the phone is one of the best amidst all the China phone manufacturers with a glass back and bevelled metal frame. Anybody who sees this phone usually thinks is a Sony.

The glass is gorilla glass but as both back and front are protected by the protectors that came with the phone I have not had any scratches on the phone yet. It also comes with a wallet pouch.

The main feature for which I bought the phone was its 5in full HD screen and it does not disappoint. The screen is clear responsive (sometimes too responsive) and bright. The only downside is to use it outside you need to turn the brightness to full.

Performance is great in terms of speed, browsing, movie watching, game playing and app use.
