My father slept in the Lord last month. As a Clergyman, people came in good numbers to write their tribute. Reading through the pages of the tribute note, this phrase "May Your Soul Rest In Perfect Peace" was repeatedly used. Then I asked myself "Is This Prayer Biblical? Bearing in mind that there is no forgiveness at the grave.

If you sleep in the Lord ( ie to die in righteousness), you are then entitle to a life of not only perfect peace but perfect happiness, joy, no sickness, no sadness, no trouble whatever (Rev 21). But if you die in disobedience, the Bible says the fire in where you will be does not quench and the worms and the beast there dont die (mk 9). The torment there is for ever and ever (Rev 14:11). That's why the Bible says there's no peace for the sinners (wicked).

Remember that it's been appointed for a man to die once...then judgement. According to the scriptures...there's no need to pray for a dead man because that prayer is just useless.
