It’s also significant because it means that those of you with a developer account can install the update right now and see if it solves some of your iOS 8 problems. It’s a relatively minor update, bug fixes and performance issues are on board, but it’s worth a download for those of you experiencing issues.

We’re still not sure if we’re going to see a iOS 8.1.1 beta 2 arrive or not though given that the iOS 8.1.1 beta’s been out for a couple of weeks now, we could see some movement starting this week.

There was a rumor going around last week that the iOS 8.1.1 release was imminent. Apple has not released the iOS 8.1.1 update to the public and it’s not clear when it will do so. As we’ve pointed out many times, Apple almost never announces incremental iOS release dates ahead of the actual roll out which means that we probably won’t hear anything credible ahead of the public release.

We should note that iOS 8.1.1 activity has increased in our site analytics in recent days, a sign that it’s probably in testing in and around the San Francisco Bay Area. Typically, when we see spikes like this something is either close or getting closer. This release is dependent on the testing process and so far, we’ve heard and seen good things.
