DON’T UNDERRATE ANYONE
Until now, he lived all his life in the country side. He has never seen a plane on the ground. In fact the only difference between an aircraft, to him, and a bird is that aircraft are noisy while birds make no sound while in flight. This is the summary of Kani’s story.
On the other hand, Benzy is well exposed and well traveled. He spent all his summer abroad. To him, there is nothing new unless it is truly new. Kani had always lived with his grandmother ever since he was conscious of himself in the country side. Very rich men who hail from the province of that country side decided to visit his home town.
During the visit, he met Kani and saw the potential in the boy. He request from Kani’s grandmother to allow him take Kani to the city and promise to sponsor his education. Kani’s grandmother agreed. The thought of Kani visiting the city for the first time in his life excited him on one hand and the fact that he was going to leave her grand mother whom he has always known to be his guardian depressed him on the other hand. Anyway, he had to go.
When he got to the city for the first time, everything was new to him. Of course, he had little or no exposure. The rich man happened to be Benzy’s father. Benzy did not like Kani right from the first day he set his eyes on him. He saw him as uncivilized and unexciting. Benzy was a very proud and arrogant boy. After some years, Kani caught up with Benzy and they both secured admission into the same college...
