The presence of fierce-looking military and police men was not enough to deter them, as they shut down the school and the ever busy Bauchi road in protest over the attempted increase in school fee.

Just two sessions ago, as a 2nd year student, I paid N12,500 as fees plus about N4000 for hostel accommodation. Today, just 2yrs later, am paying N27,000 and N13,000 for school and accommodation fee respectively. As if that isn't enough, I get to dish a further N10,000 for late registration.

The above inconsiderate fee for a federal university wasn't enough for the VC- Prof. Hayward Babale Mafuyai as rumour had it that he sought to further increase it; big mistake.

The SUG lead by the President- Com. N.N Abel went to the deliberation table with him, but instead of reconsidering, he went on to call the students "RASCALS", hence the last straw that broke the camel's back.

This morning which was supposed to herald the start of our exams was spent battling police teargas and opposing attempt by the army to repel the students. The students have vowed to continue until the school meet their demands.

Long live Nigerian Students, death to oppression and corruption.

The way the school management is exploiting the students with arbitrary
charges is getting out of hand.It would've been better if this school have
good infrastructure and standard learning facilities, good welfarism, and
upright SUG with that exorbitant fees.
In UJ you will see (SUG,DEPARTMENTAL,PROSPECTUS,MEDICALS)
DEWS in the school fees reciept outline and still pay all this during the
registration.
we pay university development dew of #10,000 but nothing has ever
developed in the schools;only our school fees is about to be developed.
Can someone pls tell me where our sundry charges of #5,000 is going
after several dews like university development, facilities
improvement, academic calendar stabilization(only God that stabilizes
calendar doesn't collect a dime),student insurance
policy,registration,departmental registration,prospectus,partnership with
students project,SUG,library booklets,campus security,ICT(they ought to
be paying us for even using their frustrating and annoying wi-fi they
said it's free despite we paying for it),examinations, computer based
test,GST fee,etc?
This people were enjoying free education during their time, but now milking the hell out of the students........WE SHALL OVERCOME ONE DAY

MOD,MAY GOD BLESS U AS YOU MOVE THIS TO FP.........ALUTA
