This was recorded in the 1950s. The vocal style of the female solo bears similarities to Yoruba-style singing.

On one hand, it sounds Yoruba-like in terms of intonation. On the other hand, it sounds south-african-like, like one of those KwaZulu songs I remember hearing from some south african movies I watched as a kid.
