Good evening class.... It's a pleasure being here,I'm your lecturer for this period and also an intending Jambite so,we are one... You can call me Barr.. Getting started, LITERATURE-IN-ENGLISH As we are aware, obtaining an O'level credit pass and a substantial Jamb mark in Literature gives us an edge into aspiring to study our desired courses. Literature is a subject which might appear complex if you perceive life itself to be complex. The only difference between literature and life is; pen and paper..i.e,literature is written, arranged and planned while life just happens... So,today,I would be listing the Jamb Literature syllabus, explaining them "un per un" and answering to your questions.. Am I making sense? 3 Likes 1 Share |

Veralaw: cc: Adeiza4u,Ifeoma12345 I really am sorry for not showing up..The electricity condition in my place has been quite epileptic so my phone battery and other personal buhaha made me absent... So, Without wasting more time, let's get settled and see what we can do today.. In literature, there are three genres:,Prose,Drama and Poetry(PDP) and each of the above genres have wide aspects attached to it...and today, according to the Syllabus at hand,we would go straight to picking and enlightening ourselves the more on each of these genres... To each,I would give brief explanations and I implore that you jot something down for last minute reference....... KEY WORDS WOULD BE IN CAPITAL LETTERS Drama> all forms of conversation that we put into ACTION OR STAGE..drama is written in ACTS AND SCENES..drama originated from religion.. Types of drama i) Comedy:is a kind of drama that triggers laughter and serves as an entertainment..example of a comic play is "our husband has gone mad again,by Ola Rotimi" ii)Tragedy: a very serious play with a DISASTER that befalls a CENTRAL HERO..this kind of drama normally begins with happiness or celebration of the hero who then experiences events that leads to his downfall or death..a hero that encounters tragedy is referred to as"TRAGIC HERO" iii)Tragicomedy: a drama which combines tragedy and comedy. iv)Melodrama: a kind of drama that involves a lot of sensational activities. v)Farce: a kind of drama that lies on fantasy.. Dramatic Techniques:- These are elements used in spicing a dramatic work. i) Characterisation: involves the characters(peoples) and the roles they play in a dramatic work. ii)Dialogue: the mode of communication used on stage by the characters iii)Flashback: this involves interjecting a supposed past occurence into the present.. iv)Mime: a performance in drama which is done by movement, gestures and facial expressions without saying a word. v)Costume: this are the clothes,make-ups and other adornments used by the characters... Till we meet again, remain jambful and blessed 1 Like |
