Avalon is palced above camry because the 2000 model of Avalaon is costlier than 2000 model of camry but of the Avensis and corolla i don't know much.

i strongly disagree with you that you rate car brands by their prices
i strongly believe that the car manufacturers look more at consumer needs in manufacturing their cars.

considering the Engine variations and specification, i think its  between the camry and the lexus.
the corolla repr. their standard 1.8l option
the Avensis 2.0
the camry from 2.2,2.4,3.0 $ 3.5 depending on the year
lexus from 2.5 to 4.5
the hybrid options notwithstanding
from what ive seen, the 2000 Avalon shares the same v6 engine with 2000 camry
but the interior is more luxurious than the contempoary camry,
i think the Avalon is a breed for the American market,
