Starting a business can be consuming; in time, money and energy. Yet many aspiring entrepreneurs find it difficult to share their business ideas with others. Your reasons are well understood because idea theft is on the raise.

But let me tell you why you need a partner in crime.

#1 TIME

Yes, time. If you look at the amount of time you put into developing your ideas then you will realize that having someone to share that workload with will help you achieve more than you could do alone.

It’s quite difficult to be in two places at a time or do two thing at a time and its absolutely impossible to clone yourself. So that just bad news upon bad news, but the good news is that we you have someone who shares your passion and enthusiasm, it becomes easy and you can divide the workload and be more productive. You know what they say about two heads, so all you need is a partner with head like yours. Literally.

#2. MONEY

Let’s talk about finance for start up businesses. It ranges, but no matter what your business idea is it will require some amount of financing. And if you can cough out the required amount of money they your idea may not see the light of day, so with a co founder with interest and passion as high as yours, you can overcome the obstacle of little of no fund for business.

It goes without saying that if your co-founder has the interest and finance to build your business it’s far better than a co- founder with interest but no finance. You know. So when looking for a partner in crime, they should be someone with a finance to contribute. But sometimes it’s not about money; you can require a service that is paramount to your business and go fishing for a partner with such skills. Such input can be far better than money.

#3. ENERGY

Just like time the amount of energy required to start up and maintain a business can’t be quantified. The thought expended into this is quite intensive, you are constantly thinking about what to do, how to do it, when to do it, what next and why thing are not working the way you want. These are several other energy consuming activities are the daily routine of an entrepreneur. If only you had a co – founder; then
-You could take a break
-Make better decisions
-Focus on what you are good at
-Double your odds
-Point out blind spots
-Balance the extremes
-Have a companion on your start up journey
-Fill the skills gaps etc

Although having a co –founder can be a huge plus for your start up business but the trick is finding the right co-founder for your business. You need to understand your SWOT i.e your strength, weakness, opportunities and treats, then find someone who complements these and brings a fresh and added value to yours.
