Assyrians are a notable people in the bible. The progenitor of the aboriginal inhabitants of the area was called Asshur, the second son of Shem. Ashur was later deified as a god of war, conquest and military strenght. Some years after God scattered them at Babel, Nimrod invaded the place built Nineveh and establish his dominion as part of his desire to rule the world. That is why Assyria was later known as the land of Nimrod

One important but hidden personalty that needs be unveiled in scriptures is one addressed as “The Assyrian.” Who is this person? First of all let us look at the book of Isaiah 23:13

"Behold the land of the Chaldeans; this people was not, till the Assyrian founded it for them that dwell in the wilderness: they set up the towers thereof, they raised up the palaces thereof; and he brought it to ruin."

Bible is telling us here that the person that built Chaldea was an Assyrian. What s’ more, the typical Nimrod architecture of towers and high rise buildings were found in her. We also know that Chaldea and Babylon are used together or interchangeably in the bible implying that they are one and the same people. Being hitherto wilderness dwellers, Nimrod succeeded in gathering the people of Asshur together to build a walled city known by the name Nineveh which denotes his own name. A confirmation of this was the result of the fact that Assyria was called in Mic 5:6the land of Nimrod

Wherever the Assyrian is mentioned in the bible it is always with the rod and the staff symbolising oppression and servitude as well as tyranny.

Reading from Ezek. 31, the Assyrian like Satan is said to have been in Eden, the garden of God. (Perhaps this is the paradise where Satan ruled the pre-Adamite world).Here references are to his spiritual origin as well as his human nature and existence. Unlike Satan and the biblical serpent, the Assyrian is likened to a tree. We know that Satan ruled the pre-Adamite world, and as we are going to see, this personalty must have shared power with Satan and obviously a representative of Satan on earth like the soon coming antichrist and Caesar Nero of the old Roman empire. In this chapter also, the Assyrian has a parallel in Pharaoh of Egypt and elsewhere in scripture his character is just like the Pharaoh which did not know Joseph. See Isaiah 10:24. It is therefore clear that this personalty might have ruled in Egypt like we have earlier seen, in Babylon and in Assyria itself. In the Satanic world they have a way of recycling spiritual personalties in human flesh to rule across earhly kingdoms. This same spirit like most high ranking spirits will be given local flavour in every nation.

The Assyrian personalty in Ezek 31 is said to be great and fair. Other description of him is that he is of high stature, probably a giant in his human and spiritual form. As a king, he prospered into a great kingdom – having influence over all nations. Much like all rulers who do not fear God and so became self conceited and so his downfall and doom was deserved.
In Ezek.23:1-13 sinful neighbours, Assyria was revealed to us like an enticing spirit attracting people to the dark world through riches and other worldly attractions. They have a material identity in blue clothing typical of marine spirits and marine royalty. Aside from these, the kings and rulers of the earth as well as generals and rich men in gorgeous clothing are also mentioned as being members of this group.

Sinful association and harlotry is an important indication of the manifestation of Assyrian spirit. Spiritual harlotry can take different forms such as idolatry. unequal yoke, 2Cor.6:14-18?, worldliness, ostentatious living, inordinate affection Ezek.23:9-11, cultism, evil exchange Nah. 3:4 and covetousness Col.3:5, Eph.5:5.
One fearful thing about the Assyrians is the ruthlessness they dealt with or judged Israel when they backslided. So christians who backslides are in for a torrid time in the hands of the devil. May we never fall into their hands in Jesus’ name. Amen.
While the foregoing is the masculine form of the Assyrian spirit, the feminine form is revealed in the book of Nahum especially in chapters 2 and 3. Here Assyria symbolised by its capital Nineveh is called by different names and have several imageries, Huzzab for example Nah.2:7. She is infamously called a well favoured harlot and the mistress of witchcraft with which she sells not only families but also nations. This explains how the control of families and nations change hands through the satanic trading system. When a spiritual kingdom is populated and controlled by women Nah.3:13, it is given to witchcraft practices like the drinking of blood and eating of human flesh a typical characteristics of lions as mentioned in Nah.2:11-13.

We can now safely conclude that the Assyrian spirit is that same spirit that is ruling the world today. It is present in the world today in the lives of the ‘kings of the earth’ i.e judges, military generals, heads of states, captains of industries, even clergy men and other public officials who rule on behalf of Satan. These device wicked devices, produce anti-God/Christ products and services, make anti-God/Christ policies to corrupt the world, recruit men for Satan and pave way for the coming of the antichrist. It is the same Egypt-Babylonian-Assyrian cult complex that takes virtually all the world captive excluding, of course, those who know their right in Christ. Lesser beings who are hosts to the Assyrian spirit are the careless and ignorant members of the society who think they can enjoy the world as it is and give little or no regard to the things of God.
