It is with an icy heart, steamingly moist eyes and a shaky hands that I regrettably write this note. It is alarmingly ambiguous and pianful to the heart to realise that essential infrastructures are noticeably missing or ill managed/unmaintained in nasarawa state university; it is also curious to note that the school authority seem to either form a deaf ear or shut their eyes to this situation. infrastructures such as the unimaginable untared road, which is the gateway into the school premises ( a project which has been on construction since Adam and Eve left the garden of Eden) is yet to been duly completed. A mere walk through this path could incure asthma on an asthma free person. The road is as dusty as Sahara desert itself.

The hostels are outrageously insufficient which necessitated accomodation been offered to specifically the 100level and 400level students. The hostels on its own part could be likened to some Nigerian cells, where inmates have to cuddle each other in order to sleep comfortably, due to the over crowded nature of the hostel. Most rooms in this hostel have outlived there functions and from meter away you would be greeted with the horrible smell from the bathrooms and toilets, which has given the hostel the scent it now has. little wonder why a major percentage of the 100 and 400level students choose to live outside the campus.

Another issue that bedevils the school is the scanty nature of her library. A library is suppose to be the birth place of research and further learning in any institution, but this birth place of research seems to be a shadow of itself, more like a place ravaged and ransacked by the loothings of civil war. It now more like a relaxation spot for students, because necessary books are hardly found in it.

Adequate measures needs to be done to address this issues. Not withstanding in my own opinion and without exaggeration Nasarawa State University is among the best state owned university in Nigeria with an outstanding Vice chancellor Mallam Mainoma who is not just a leader but a servant, a father, a pace setter, a character worthy of emulation, a mentor, who is humble in nature. Nasarawa State University is also loaded with intellectually inclined and humble lecturers, with the likes of Mallam M.S Rabiu (the most outstanding lecturer in faculty of Arts), Mr. Akpede, Prof. Ngwai, Ass. Prof. Kana, etc. It also hosts bundles of talents ranging from intellectual academicians with the likes of Fredrick Oxford, Teslin Sanusi, etc. To talented dancers, musicians and co with the likes of The Elevators, YWAP, etc. . Who have gone as far as winning awards.

Nasawara state university is my institution of pride and I believe would someday be rated among the worlds best institution, but that growth must begin within us..

Am so suprised that nothing has changed. Being the first set I remembered when we the SRC went to petiton the Governor Abdullahi Adamu administration he promised the government will do more and even gave us a coastal bus which was named “Alluta Dragon” its unfortunate that the school is still the way we the first set left it.
