JAMBS NEW POLICY 2015/2016 - ADMISSION FOR ALL The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) at its 2015 Combined Policy Meeting, held on July 14, 2015in Abuja, announced the adoption of a policy whereby candidates of universities with surplus applicants for the Unified Matriculation Examinations (UTME) are reassigned to other universities with lower number of candidates than their capacities. According to the Registrar/CEO of JAMB, Professor Dibu Ojerinde, the policy portends two benefits: 1.It will be beneficial to “needy Universities” that is universities with lower number of candidates than their capacities, as this will ensure that these universities will have more candidates to admit. 2.Candidates will have better chances for admission in the universities they are re-assigned to, contrary to situations where they would await admission in theuniversities of their first choices until the admission exercise closes and they forfeit admission in that session. This policy has been implemented with immediate effect. Consequently, the eligibility for Post-UTME screening in Universities in Nigeria has been determined by JAMB. In effect, only candidates whose names were forwarded to the University by JAMB are eligible for the 2015/2016 post-UTME screening. |

Na wa o! Sounds like a reasonable move but all so sudden. They shud av used this year in informing aspirants/wards/schools of their decision, and implement it next year.Nigerian regulatory bodies are always toiling with people's aspirations. Oh well,it has come 2 stay,we can only hope 4 the best now! Fingers crossed!!! |

IDGAF:good move no doubt, but what about awareness and how will students know of their new assigned schools. This can be very dangerous because many candidates will miss this year's post utme and admission too. |

Its eminent we think straight here I know it's tough for some of us aspirants as we all have running bowels and slowed down pulses already Firstly I stand to be corrected but to me the whole thing is a hoax. No one who said he couldn't find his name has seen his name on unilag post ume eligible candidates has seen his name in another school or has been posted.. (Does this point anything to you?) Secondly, Most of the aforementioned universities don't accept under age I.e below 16 or at most 16 by Oct 1st of the year he/she is expecting admission and we all know with the rate at which 14 ,15 year olds are leaving high school..most would be affected (Rethink this) Thirdly, Post ume registration just started and its almost always not hitch free..there could be problems associated with the composition of eligibility of candidates and input into the system(Don't you think so) Fourthly, Some people have reportedly said the couldn't find their names before bit have been able to see it now (Not a fact yet) In the light of the above, I'll rather every student prepare harder for the upcoming post ume than spend the whole day brooding about an uncertainty (my opinion though) Khassy cares 1 Like |
