English side, Arsenal escaped a tough opposition in Real Madrid when the UEFA Champions League draw paired the Emirates club against AS Monaco. There were rising hope among Arsenal fans that the club be paired against ‘softer’ opposition in the knockout stage of the UCL following unconvincing run in the English Premier League. The fans were not disappointed when the club was handed the French opposition. In other pairings, PSG will slog it out against Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea, while Manchester City will face a tough one against Barcelona. Bayer Leverkusen will be up against Atletico Madrid, as Juventus and Borussia Dortmund do battle. In-form Real Madrid will expect an easy ride over Schalke 04, same expectation from Bayern Munich against Shakhtar Donetsk. FC Basel will lock horns with FC Porto to determine one winner. |
