the romans invented concrete.

the word candidate came from ancient roman republic, where men who ran for office wore white togas, called candidus, at a public forum, as a symbol of purity and trust.

the month of july was named in honor of roman dictator Julius Caesar. when his grand nephew Augustus became emperor, he named the following month after himself, August, after he took the title Augustus from the roman senate

QUESTION!!!!!!!!
1. which emperor was christ refering to when he said "give unto Caesar what is Caesar's and unto God what is God's"
2. what is Kakistomoboplutocracy grin

wrong. Julius Caesar was never an emperor. he was a dictator for life. the first emperor of rome was his grand nephew Octavius, whom the roman senate gave the title Augustus, and he adopted his grand Uncle's name Caesar, thus became known as Caesar Augustus

but even Caesar Augustus wasn't the emperor in power when christ made the statement "give unto Caesar. . . . .. "

cheesy

He was referring to "Julius Caesar" not "Emperor Julius Caesar" because Julius Caesar was not an emperor, hence the question itself is a trick question.

okay, the question was not understood. perhaps i didnt put it rightly. . . .so here is it. . when christ made that statement, the province of Judea, where christ lived, was under roman occupation/rule, the people paid taxes to the roman govt which they didnt like, so my question was; who was the Roman Emperor at that time?

Hint: Bc Julius Caesar was popular in roman history, most of the early roman emperors of the Julio-Claudian dynasty took the name Caesar one way or the other. at some point the name Caesar became synonymous with Emperor. infact from there came the russian word for king--> Czar

answer: Emperor Tiberius (14-37 AD) full official name: Tiberius Caesar Divi Augusti Filius Augustus.
born as Tiberius Claudius Nero, his mother divorced his father in order to marry the Emperor Caesar Augustus, thus making him the step son of the Emperor Augustus, and Augustus had no son, or heir, so he became the heir and from there became the 2nd Emperor of Rome

kakistomoboplutocracy:

a new word coined by former Nigerian MP, Patrick Obaigbahon (spelling?) to express his exasperation over the state of the nigerian nation with respect to governance. It comprises of three words;
Kakistocracy; government by the worst persons in the community
Mobocracy; government by the mob
plutocracy; government by the rich

unfortunately, oxford university is yet to add it to the english lexicon, and nigeria has refused to approve a dictionary for nigerian english
