Land is sold in plots in here in Nigeria. However i get all confused about the measurements since what we know as a plot here is a standard measurement. So i would like some clarification please. Whats the equivalent of 1 acre in plots? How about a hectare? And what exactly is the dimensions of a plot of land? In metres and in feet? Surveyors in the house, over to you. Thanks.

I will give you a layman's sizes of requested info above.
But sorry, I am not a Surveyor, so I am sure a good Surveyor will chime in and correct me.

1. There are variations of Plot sizes in Nigeria namely:
(a) In Western parts and some other areas it's 60x120ft
(b) In Eastern Parts and some other areas it's 50x100ft
So take your choice.

2. There are 6 Plots of 60x120ft in an Acre of Land.

3. There is 2.47 or simply/roughly two and half Acres in a Hectare.

4. Plot of 60x120ft is same as 18.28x36.58m (sometimes just abbreviated as 18x36m)

5. So that is about almost 15 Plots of 60x120ft in a Hectare.

6. Plot of 50x100ft is same as 15.24x30.48m (sometimes just abbreviated as 15x30m)

So I hope you can do the math for all your questions now.

Note: ft=feet and m=meter
And to get square feet or square meter, just multiply the two figures (length x breadth)
