Reasons Why Christmas Is Not Worth Celebrating By Genuine Christians by Nobody: 10:23am On Dec 27, 2014
It is certain that Christ came into this sinful and perverse world, in order to save and deliver humanity from the power and consequences of sin. [Matt.1:21].
He was sent into this world so as to bring everlasting life, thereby making it possible for us to escape the wrath to come(that lies in hell). [John3:16, Rom.5:9].

He is the perfect and spotless Lamb of God, provided by God Almighty as a substitute to bear and take away our sins. [John1:29, 1Peter1:19].
This is the primary purpose of Christ's coming.

As followers and contemporary disciples of Christ, we ought to walk even as Christ walked, we ought to follow Christ even as the early disciples did.[1John2:6].
We are to put ourselves in the shoes of those disciples and listen to the words, doctrine and commandments of Christ.

On the other hand, we need to understand that, there are doctrines, patterns and traditions that are unscriptural, nomatter their level of acceptance in our society today.

Jesus talked about the broad way that leads to destruction and He told us that Majority(as against the Minority on the narrow way) are already on the broad way.[Matt.7:13].
[JUST TRYING TO POINT OUT TO US, THAT THE MAJORITY IS NOT ALWAYS RIGHT].

Christ, understanding the relevance of His mission and having full knowledge of all the events that characterised and would eventually characterise His stay on earth, CHOSE THE CELEBRATION OF HIS DEATH TO THE CELEBRATION OF HIS BIRTH.

He commanded His discipled to celebrate and remember His death- a period during which His body was crucified and His blood shed for the remission of the sins of mankind.

The disciples were to celebrate and remember this remarkale and most significant event of Christ's life [HIS DEATH] by partaking in the Lord's Supper[The Holy Communion or Eucharist]. [Luke22:14-20].

WE MUST UNDERSTAND THAT;
-CHRIST WAS BORN TO DIE.
-HIS DEATH WAS THE REASON FOR HIS BIRTH.
This was what mattered the most to Him(as well as to His disciples) -His death and not His birth.

HIS BIRTH would have been useless to humanity without HiS DEATH because the efficacy of His precious blood that was shed during His death, wouldn't have been made manifest.

In addition, you want to agree with me, that the Christmas period, that you and I have come to know has never been a period of sober reflection, when people have a kind of Spiritual-Check, trying to find out why Christ really came and how His coming had impacted their lives, instead it has always been a period of merry-making.

Moreso, Christmas is a recyled Idolatrous event (Check encyclopedias to verify), think about 'the santa', 'the xmas tree' and others you would want to ask yourself the link between these and so many more to the celebration of Christ's birth.
You want to ask if this is scriptural or not.

MAY GOD BLESS YOU AS YOU MODEL YOUR CHRISTIAN LIFE AFTER THE PRECEPTS OF THE HOLY SCIPTURES.

I absolutely agree that it should be a day of sober reflection.

I don't understand why Muslims, atheists and even ignorant "Christians" attack Christmas.
This is a day that the church picked to celebrate Jesus Christ yet people bring up all sorts of arguments; how do we knw its his exact date of birth, isn't that day associated with some pagan practise in the past, but Christmas is not in the bible (the word bible is not in the bible). Isn't it all silly.
Some people will spend the day drinking, partying or opening presents by Santa clause but are they Christians?.
Christmas is a day that most true Christians attend church and praise God.
Its a day that see charity donations exponentially increase.
Its a day of thanks giving and gift giving.
A day whole families come together and bond.
Its a day of love and the message of Christ is heard by both Christians and non Christians.
Its a day for reflection.
Its a holiday people take the day off from work and stay home with their kids.
Instead of condemning the day you should commend the church for singling out today and turning it to the beautiful day that it is today.
A day chosen to celebrate the Son of God who is born that will save man from sin
