I was drawn to the fact by someone to find out what "Goons" mean in the dictionary, and my findings scared me as i thought it mean fwends.

Goon according to Oxford dictionary means
1. Stupid / silly person
2. Criminal who is paid to frighten or injure people

Now my question is why does our musicians use words out of context in their songs.

I imagine myseld and a whole lot of others using that word flagrantly because our musicians use it. A plea to muscians to use right language as there are kids listening and funny enough these kids memorise these songs.

Olamide knows and understands what he is saying.

His claims to be a street kid and gangstar.

He also claims to be something else...that is associated with violence.

So it is only natural that Olamide has "goons" for friends.

My point is Olamide means exactly what he is saying and he is saying what he means.

Olamide knew what it meant before using it. As a street person, whom do you expect his friends to be? The so called "eruku" now. If you listen to the lyrics wella you will inscrutable when he said "shoutout sa won goons mi, awon ERUKU mi. Awon loni kin ma para Toni kin keep cool mi, bi gobe sele ninu hood mi, teba gbo bajinatu ema rawon goons mi" as a street boy, he'll have enemies, some may even want his death but he must have his own gang, the ERUKU's who won't mind dying in his stead. The song is for them
