Eduok Joins Esperance, Hits Eagles Camp by Marcelinho(m): 7:40am On Jan 02, 2015 |
Top Tunisian club Esperance have signed Dolphins star striker Emem Eduok on a contract for three and a half years, AfricanFootball.com reports. The player who was away from the Super Eagles camp as a result of the deal negotiations has since joined the squad in Abuja. A former top Esperance official who spoke from Tunis said, “Emem (Eduok) has signed a contract for three and a half years after he passed a medical with the club.” Other details of the deal were still very sketchy as at Thursday night. Eduok scored a record-equalling 20 goals in the closed season of the Nigeria Premier League. His goal-scoring ability helped attract interests from overseas. Eagles officials confirmed, Thursday, that Eduok arrived in the Abuja camp from Tunisia on Thursday morning. The striker, who missed the morning training session, was eventually a part of the evening session at the Abuja National Stadium under assistant coach of the team, Daniel Amokachi. Out-of- contract head coach, Stephen Keshi, is reportedly on holiday in the USA. The stand-in coach said that with the arrival of Eduok, he was no longer awaiting any other player as Godwin Igudia earlier invited had sent in a message explaining that he is nursing an injury. Only 19 players from the squad of 24 will make the trip to Abu Dhabi for the international friendly matches against Cote d’Ivoire and Sudan. Eduok, The PUNCH learnt, told the Eagles managers that his trip to Tunisia was a huge success but that he still needed proper clearance from his club, Dolphins. He would pursue the clearance after the two friendly games. He said, “The trip was okay, I have done my medicals and concluded terms with my new club but Dolphins will still have to clear me after our friendly games.” But while it has been a wonderful tale for Eduok, so far, it is not yet wonderful for another up and coming Nigeria-based player, Mfon Udoh. Enyimba have placed a price tag of $1.2m tag on all-time Nigeria league record scorer, Udoh, after they rejected a $650,000 from a top Egyptian club according to Africanfootball.com . Udoh himself has revealed that he has received offers from several clubs from Africa and Europe. The player is also in the Eagles camp. “Actually clubs are calling but we have not arrived at anything yet,” he said. “Like I have said I am not in a hurry to leave Enyimba, but once the right offer comes I will decide.” |
