FEW FACTS ABOUT GEN. MOHAMMADU
BUHARI

Did you know that Gen. Mohammad Buhari is
a father of 10 children (2 boys and 8 girls) :
Zulaihat, Fatima, Musa (now deceased),
Nadia, Safinatu, Aisha, Halima, Yusuf, Zarah,
and Amina?

Did you know that he divorced his first wife
(the former first lady) Safinatu (nee Yusuf)
Buhari in 1988 after having 5 children with
her. On 14th January 2006, Safinatu Buhari
died from complications of diabetes. She was
buried at Unguwar Rimi cemetery in
accordance with Islamic rites.

Did you know that in November 2012 Buhari's
first daughter, Zulaihat (nee Buhari) Junaid
died from sickle cell anaemia after having a
baby two days before at a hospital in
Kaduna.

In July 1966 Lieutenant Mohammadu Buhari
was one of The participants in a coup led by
Lt-col Murtala Mohammed that overthrew the
first Nigerian military government, killing Gen.
Aguiyi Ironsi (Nigeria first military head of
state), and Lt. Colonel Adekunle Fajuyi (the
military governor of the Western Region). This
coup later lead to a bloody civil war that
consumed the lifes of millions of innocent
Nigerians (Igbos mostly).

Did you know that in December 1983 Gen.
Mohammadu Buhari overthrew a
Democratically elected government (Shehu
Shagari's administration), and today (32
years after) he wants to benefit from a
Democratic process citing the same reason :
corruption.

Did you know that Gen. Mohammadu Buhari
in 2011 after losing his 3rd presidential
election in a role made incitive comments that
engineered his supporters to kill over 500
innocent Nigerians in another post election
violence.
