Under our administration, computing facilities were provided to 74 tertiary institutions and 218 public schools across the country. When our administration came on board, there were several challenges facing the ICT sector and these included the slow development of reliable broadband as well as several uncoordinated broadband initiatives which resulted in connections that were slow, unreliable and expensive. #Nigeriab4GEJ Unlike previous governments in #Nigeriab4GEJ, our administration quickly recognised that ICT occupies a core place position in Nigeria’s strategic transformation and is key to the success of government reforms, including E-Government, IPPIS as well as the on-going modernisation of the payment system. #GEJAchievements Our administration views the extensive use of ICT in governance and electronic migration of all payments and business transactions as key to an effective fight against corruption. #GEJAchievements Compare #Nigeriab4GEJ To transform the ICT infrastructure in the country in order to provide the necessary support for government’s reforms, we undertook a number of reforms, which have succeeded in building the necessary ICT infrastructure for reliable broadband connection. #GEJAchievements Compare #Nigeriab4GEJ The impact of the ICT Sector reforms of our administration are being felt across the spectrum from service providers to end users. #GEJAchievements Compare #Nigeriab4GEJ The creation of a new Ministry of Communication Technology by our administration in 2011 has helped to ease communication by people in the North Central. #GEJAchievements Compare #Nigeriab4GEJ The new ministry of communication technology has helped to coordinate and spearhead the transformation of the nation’s ICT infrastructure. Several programs initiated by the ministry have had far reaching impact on cost and availability of internet access amongst other indices. #GEJAchievements Compare #Nigeriab4GEJ Additional Fiscal and other measures were undertaken to reduce costs and improve ease of doing business in the ICT Sector. These measures have had far reaching impacts on people in the North Central. Easier, cheaper and faster communications have enhanced productivity and economic activities. #GEJAchievements Compare #Nigeriab4GEJ Under our administration, people in the North Central have found it easier and cheaper to build ICT infrastructure. ICT sector reforms initiated by our administration have reduced bureaucracy and red tape in building ICT infrastructure. Consequently, the processing time for applications to build ICT infrastructure has been reduced to 30 days while the cost of securing ‘right-of-way’ has fallen from N5 million in #Nigerian4GEJ to N145,000. #GEJAchievements Under our administration, the speed of broadband connection in the North Central has increased by over 680%, from just 1 MB per second in 2011#Nigeriab4GEJ to 7.8 MB per second in 2014. #GEJAchievements The results of our administration’s efforts to make broadband more accessible and affordable are being felt in the areas of job creation in the North Central. As more people in the region have access to the internet, the doors of opportunity to the global economy are opening up for all in the region. Compared to #Nigeriab4GEJ, costs have also fallen by over 63%, from about N95,000 in 2011 to N35,000 as at 2013, and it is continuing to fall. #GEJAchievements
