NAFDAC has again achieved another major milestone in its fight against fake and substandard products with its Central Drug Control Laboratory Yaba, Lagos been accredited and certified ISO 17025 by the USAID/USP at Protea Hotel, Ikeja today Wednesday 28th January 2015.

The event which was well attended by captains of industries, US diplomats and staff of NAFDAC has made the agency the first government institution to be so elevated in Nigeria.

Presenting the Award, Patrick Lukulay and Kelly Willis both senior executives of United States Pharmacopoeia Convention (USP) hinted that the recognition is the highest quality assurance certification meaning any laboratory result from NAFDAC is globally accepted and will not be subjected to any further testing.

Receiving the award of certification on behalf of the agency, the DG Dr Paul Orhii who was full of joy thanked the US government and promised to do more in keeping to international standard. He also hinted that the rigorous process leading to the award started about a year ago where the lab was subjected to constant inspection, upgrading and reinspection.
