EXCLUSIVE: The Manchester United midfielder insists he is not looking ahead to a title challenge in 2015-16 because of the importance of sealing a top-four finish this season

Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini insists the Red Devils must finish in the top four this season and return to the Champions League.

United failed to qualify for Europe last season for the first time since 1995 and currently find themselves in a tight race for a place in the continent’s top competition in 2015-16.

Louis van Gaal’s side have been drawn criticism for some of their recent displays and were labelled ‘long-ball United’ by West Ham manager Sam Allardyce following Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Upton Park.

And while Fellaini admits some below-par performances have cost United a higher position in the table, he claims they remain focused on the current campaign rather than looking ahead to a renewed title challenge next season.

“It is important because Manchester United have to play in the Champions League, and we have the quality for that,” Fellaini told Goal at the launch of New Balance Football.
