Schalke’s Benedikt Howedes has admitted he is keen to
move to the Premier League, with Chelsea ready to move for
his signature this summer, the Metro reports.
The World Cup winner is of interest to Manchester
United and Arsenal, but the Blues are believed to be
leading the chase.
Howedes said: ‘I owe Schalke a lot, I have had a
great experience during my time here.
‘However, if I were to imagine moving abroad to
experience a life in a foreign country, England
would be my destination.’
Chelsea are looking for a long-term replacement for
John Terry at present, with the centre-back having
turned 34 this season.
The defender is confident of securing a 12-month extension
to keep him with the club until the end of next season, but
will most likely begin to feature less and less in the near
future due to his age.
Chelsea are now said to have been scouting Howedes
ahead of a move this summer, who is valued at around £17
Million, and is known for his strong tackling and aerial
ability.
The West-London are also linked with a move for Real
Madrid’s Raphael Varane, who is also of interest to Man
United.
