Tade Adegbindin in his novel " The White Wizard" tells the story of Elewi, the son of the late king (Olowo) of Igbeti and heir apparent. Upon his father's death, Elewi paid a visit to Alapo, a high ranking chieftain to know why he was not made king as is the practice. Alapo explained to him that he was not made king upon his father's demise because he lacked the necessary qualities of wisdom and maturity required of a king.
