Flaunting of assets on social media seems to be a growing trend among most Nigerian celebrities, who derive pleasure in showing off their wealth and possessions, especially when they are newly acquired. Although, this is not peculiar to Nigerian celebrities alone, many have started seeing it as a competition to show off what they got. While those who engage in has over time given reasons to justify their actions, those who don't have continually criticised the act, describing as childish, unprofessional, irrelevant competition, etc.

When asked what he feels about celebrities showing off their wealth on social media in an exclusive interview with Topgistng.com, award winning Nollywood actor, Daniel Kanayo Daniel, popularly known as Daniel K Daniel said, "I'm not really a fan of that, I don't subscribe to it, especially when it's excessive. It makes people out there feel that's what we're all about"
