Explanation: Not only short term crops can be intercropped with plantain, you can also intercrop annual, biannual crops or cash crops. But you have to be careful of choosing crops with elongated roots and root/tuber crops alongside plantain, except you intend giving both crops a wider required spacing so the plantain stand doesn't get affected when harvesting your root/tuber crop.

Mixed-cropping is different from inter-cropping incase that got you confused.
