Besiktas coach Slaven Bilic mentioned that his team were very confident and upbeat tha they would beat Liverpool in Thursday’s Europa League penalty shootout.

Besiktas were down 1-0 at Anfield in their first-leg meeting and it appeared to be that they were on their way out of the competition until Tolgay Arslan's fine strike 18 minutes from time brought them level in the return game on Thursday.

Extra time failed to split the teams and Besiktas prevailed 5-4 on penalties when Liverpool’s Dejan Lovren blazed the final spot kick over the bar.

"We deserved this win," Bilic told NTVSpor.
“Before the penalties, I told my players, 'There's no pressure on you'. Seven of them wanted to take a penalty. I think that proved our confidence."

Liverpool were Bilic’s side’s third Premier League opponents this season after losing out to Arsenal in a Champions League qualifier and facing Tottenham Hotspur in the Europe League group stage.

And former Everton defender Bilic says he is half expecting a return to his former club when the draw for the last-16 is made.

"If our next opponent is Everton, I won't be at all surprised. We have faced three English teams already, which is enough.”

EX-Chelsea striker Demba Ba also added:

“We're good team and we have a lot of quality. When we are at our best, we can take on anyone.”
