The Telegraph broke the news this morning, but now
Chelsea FC have confirmed a new mega-money
sponsorship. The Blues will be wearing shirts with the
Yokohama logo for the next five seasons, replacing long
time sponsor Samsung, in exchange for over doubling the
revenue generated under the old agreement*.
*The new deal is believed to be worth £40 million per year,
whereas Samsung were paying the club just £18 million. The
club did not confirm the value of the deal, however.

The obvious benefit of this deal is the increased spending
power Chelsea will have, as an additional £22 million per
season will go a long way in the FFP era. How they spend
that money should be fairly interesting, as the club don't
have too many holes at the moment, and the new core of
this team is a long way from needing replacement
