MANCHESTER CITY have failed with a £14million bid for Marseille star Taye Taiwo. Now boss Mark Hughes is ready to offer £19m flop Jo in part exchange for the versatile Nigerian ace. Hughes’ move for Taiwo, 23, could also mean the end for Brazilian winger Elano. Free-kick specialist Taiwo is equally at home at left-back or on the left of midfield. With new £12m signing Wayne Bridge filling the defensive slot, it is Elano’s midfield position which is under threat Hughes will not be held to ransom but believes he can salvage the deal by offloading some of his deadwood. www.thesun.co.uk |
