"Do not wait until there is need to call Allah before you will invoke Him".
The prophet (saw) said, "whoever wished that Allah answers him at the time of distress should invoke Allah at the time ease".
There are essentially 2 types of prayer that I know; 1. The sustenance prayer which we do everyday for protection, sound health etc. This is done by virtually everybody.
2. The Buffer prayer. It is a prayer set aside for an unknown time. This is done against the future occurrence - which we might not know when the need will be.
How best should we prepare for an inevitable guest? By preparing everyday. How best should we prepare for a calamity, problem, condition, circumstances that is not devoid of anyone - the learned and the unlearned, scholars and the morons, the single and the married? It is by invoking to Allah when it's yet to come.
Setting a prayer aside now against it doesn't mean we are expecting it. It simply means we are aware of its inevitability and we are realistic to ourselves. A time will come that you will need a good partner to live the rest of your life with, a time will come that a huge financial responsibility will be before you, a time will come that you will need a job or promotion, a time will come that you or your spouse will be in labour room and many more prayer needy situations. Who do you call upon then? Why not start depositing against that day now? Again, the noblest Prophet (saw) said, " he who wants Allah to answer him at the time of distress should call upon him at the time of ease"
Sodaka Rosoolul Kareem.

Salam alaikum Wa rahmatullah.
