Corian can withstand water, we have used it before in a chemistry laboratory in 2012.
Corian is more flexible and can be carved or curved to any shape as well as been very durable, that might be the reason why it was used for your dorm shower as you stated.
DuPont is the major supplier of Corian as its well known, they just opened an office in Nigeria few years ago(2012) to be precise.
The Corian sheets we bought for the project was imported directly from UK or Us can't remember now.

If you check the pictures very well, you will notice how the Corian sinks were moulded to the top seamlessly without any line.

The partition was formed using metal profile and gypsum boards.
It can’t get to the ceiling as it was just supposed to be restricting views of staff coining directly from the kitchen.

After the opening was created, the door was installed on it, the board was then painted.

This post will look at the different properties of each, as well as their advantages and disadvantages for use in home and offices.
MDF stands for Medium Density Fibreboard and is made from wood fibres (dust) glued together under high heat and pressure.

MDF is often preferred by installers because it is typically easier to cut and shape than MFC and therefore easier to work with. It is also strong, durable and if water ingression occurs it performs well, although it may blow due to the water affecting the efficiency of the glue that hold together the fibres.  However, despite the advantages of MDF, We prefer to use MFC.

MFC is an acronym for Melamine Faced Chipboard, and is made of wood chips formed into particleboard, and then bonded to melamine resin impregnated paper.

MFC has come a long way since the cheap flat pack furniture from the 80s and is now a lot more resilient and hardwearing. Today’s MFC can be used to create very modern looking kitchens with its printed wood grain on a melamine film that forms the face and edges of the chipboard.
The German kitchen marketing is renowned for producing excellent quality kitchens and you may be surprised to know that over 90% of German kitchens use MFC for the kitchen base units as well as the kitchen doors.

Back in the day when mdf first got to Nigerian market, the panels comes as thick as 18mm, now they import 16mm or less (recession or not)
Mfc panels still comes at the average 18mm thickness. This also is an advantage over the mdf.
