I Hope This Makes FrontPage cos I'm sure I speak for millions of Nigerians at this moment.

I'm watching with keen interest as Nigerians across social platforms are teeming up to go to war with MultiChoice's DSTV over their recent 20 percent increase on all their pay TV services.

Believe it or not, corporations are not government.

Corporations are more powerful than governments.

So many government policies are designed to please corporations.

They bankroll government activities.

They fund the politicians.

They raise or lower GDPs and determine currency values through their activities.

Take them to Court, they can hire 10,000 lawyers if they want to.

They can initiate developmental projects that benefit Judges or whatever stunt they have to pull to make sure the case ends up in their favour.

Hell, they can keep the case in a marathon until you run out of money to continue.

Beating them is next to impossible but not impossible.

Corporations have only one backbone - money.

The goods and services they provide determine their power.

Boycott is the only known effective weapon that works %100 of the time against Corporations.
Boycott affects their number one backbone.
Only Boycott would make them to bend for their customers.

Boycott needs the magic of numbers to work; when many participate, things will play out according to plan but with the involvement of just a few persons, the offender will remain strong.

But that's just the problem when it comes to Nigeria.

We don't know what "sustained united pressure" means.

To get Nigerians to jointly say Yes or No when it comes to such matter and stand their ground for long is Mission Impossible 13.

After all these noise currently making airwaves, few will still continue with the boycott plan but many will think of how much they miss seeing Lionel Messi's Pinocchio's face and they will run back to DSTV to literally beg them to give it to them at the exorbitant price.

With 2 million subscribers in Nigeria (second only to South Africa's 4.5 million), that's a large number to use and bend DSTV to their knees but I wonder how many would want to get involved and stay involved.

By All Means Fellow Nigerians,

LET US BOYCOTT DSTV NOW !!!
.......................

Whether you ve got DSTV or not,
Join this unified Nigerian consumers movement.

By the way, how many LIKES can this post get?
Let's send our first message to these "rippers".

As long as there is no better alternative, nothing much can be done.

Instead of planning boycott, think of how to counter them with innovative products

After boycotting them, what next? Do you have any better alternative?

Guy? DSTV is a luxury item not an essential buy. If you cannot afford DSTV get it switched off. Imagine a boycott for such when you need essentials like water, electricity and healthcare.

By the way, the increase is across the board not only in Nigeria. Lastly, Nigeria does not have 2million subscribers, where is your source?

Excellent post, why should people boycott what isn't a necessity in the first place. Nigerians need to get their priorities right, watching satellite television isn't essential besides there are other means one can spend ones time with like you know READ A BOOK! It won't kill us.

There are alternatives. DSTV didnt force anyone to subscribe. Take a hard look at the channels in Dstv and those in other satelite companies, they are the same. maybe slight differences. there are times you would be sooooo bored watching dstv inspite of the fact that you paid for the full bouquet. so why waste so much money on what you would find in others? its not compulsory to use Dstv. If only there is some sort of competition to kick Dstv into the background.

3 million rest of africa.

Is it a must to have DStv? noo, its not, if you feel its too expensive, unsubscribe, simple.
Besides, even if you boycot dstv, they wont feel the pain. Majority of Naspers profits, owners of multichoice(DStv), come from their internet business. They own 34% of China's Tencent, which is a $100 Billion company. They compete with the Alibaba in china. Naspers is a $50 Billion company, no body can touch them, they are too powerful. They can send any rival satelite tv to the grave any given time. They pay $100m every season to have EPL rights in Africa. Boycotting them is waste of energy, they still make majority of their profits in South Africa.
