Abusive Words Turned To Slangs, Are They Truly Manifesting? by Melancholy(m): 4:16pm On Mar 12, 2015
Our environment has so much re-direct our minds away from formal way of greetings which is total contrast to our parents upbringing. Am neither a pedant or purist cos i fall in this category of people who uses such words. Does the use of curse words depends on the true intentions of the speakers which the atmosphere recognised? cos this has become prevalent amongst youth which i think has come to stay despite efforts of religious leaders explaining to us that life&death lies in tongue. Imagine a blossom friends barged into eachother after a longtime probably due to busy schedules that made them so fixed up,thus goes their convo; "Oloshii! Where have u been to all this years?" The respondent would be like "Weree! Infact am doing gud oo". And both continued in their pleasantries. Sometimes its results to embarrassment when the environment(even in religious gatherings) we found urselves sometimes allows for no such absurd style of greetings which we oblivious of cos we finds it hard to change! With no respect to other words like; Ole,ole, ode, mumu, oniranu, oloriburuku, gigolo etc... And another question will be how u rejects them when been used at u? Feel free to share u thought..
