The Police in Lagos yesterday arraigned a businessman Nnamdi Unagbu before a Tinubu Magistrate’s Court for allegedly assaulting and inflicting wound on the breast of a woman, Chinyere Eboh. Unagbu, who resides at 3 Abeokuta Street in Bariga area of Lagos, was docked before the count on a one count charge of assault.

The prosecutor Sargent Koti Aoudohemba, told the court that the defendant committed the alleged offence on March 9, 2015 at about7:09pm at Ebudola Market Balogun in Lagos Island. According to Aoudohemba the defendant assaulted one Chinyere Eboh with stick which gave her cut on her left hand and her right breast. Aoudohemba said trouble started when the victim refused to clean dirt alleged blew from her shop to the defendant’s shop.

He further stated that the defendant and Eboh started fighting and in the process used a stick with nails on it to beat her which caused the wound on her hand and breast. According to the prosecutor the offence committed is punishable under section 171 of the criminal law of Lagos state of Nigeria 2011.

However the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge and Magistrate Salam Matepo, granted him bail, in the sum of N10,000, with two sureties in like sum
