With the noise about the coming elections deafening, its a wonder if people are aware that their TVs could cease to function effectively by June 2015. This is due to the digitization of television broadcasting in Nigeria which will mean the present analogue method of broadcasting free to air TV channels will be stopped. That means your TV might be useless by then as it won’t show anything.
It’s a shame that the NBC (National broadcasting commission) is not doing any sensitization of the public to this fact as a lot of the TV sets around cannot carry digital broadcasts.

This deadline reminds me of the proposed february 2015 election; it moved. In the same vein this tv digitization deadline has kept moving since 2013 and I believe would continue moving.

That will not happen. Reason- This migration was mandated by the ITU and it stipulated June 17 as the final date. Most European, Asian and American countries have completed their migration and some countries in Africa like Ghana and Kenya are on course. So this is not a Nigerian thing. If the authorities neglect this there will be interference from the TV signals of other countries which is not healthy for national defense.
